Assistant Web Manager
Annie Banks is going to be a Sophmore at Sierra High School and this is her first year helping with the Great Valley Writing Program. She manages snack distribution and is website assistant as well. In her spare time Annie enjoys hiking, playing volleyball, and wizard dueling with her sister Maddie and friends Vannida, Rose, and Joanna.
Senior Administrative Assistant
Maddie Banks is going to be a Senior at Sierra High School. She has been involved in the Great Valley Writing Program since she was in the fifth grade when her teacher recommended it to her. This year Maddie worked as an administrative assistant. Her main job consisted of taking attendance. In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, crocheting elf hats, reading Harry Potter, and wizard dueling with her sister Annie. Her favorite color is light tan, and her favorite animals are puppies.
Head Coach/Senior Web Manager
Vannida Nguyen is going to be a Senior at Sierra High School and this is her fourth year as a coach. She has been involved with the Great Valley Writing Program since she was in fifth grade. She has taken positions such as Administrative Assistant and Senior Web Manager in her years as a coach. She enjoys playing tennis, running track, spending time with friends, and staying busy. Her favorite TV shows include America's Best Dance Crew, Glee, and The Legend of Korra. She also enjoys wizard dueling with her friends Maddie, Annie, Rose, and Joanna.
Senior Administrative Assistant (K-3)
Brianne Packer is the Website Designer and Teacher Assistant for the K-3 workshop held at Ripon Elementary. She is in charge of compiling and sorting photos and video clips, compiling student projects, and creating all of the text and images for our K-3 website pages. This is her third year in the GVWP Writing & Technology Workshops, and she thoroughly enjoyed working with our very young writers. Brianne is a sophomore at Arizona State University.
Assistant Web Manager (K-3)
Carly Packer is the Photo Manager at our workshop for 4th-12thgrade students at Ripon High. She is in charge of taking ID photos, uploading pictures to Photobucket, sorting the photos into categories, and putting together a web page. This is her third year in the GVWP Writing & Technology Workshops. Carly has enjoyed working as a coach, and she hopes to return again next year.
Photography Manager
Joanna Steele is going to be a Senior at Keyes To Learning Charter School and this is also her first year helping with the Great Valley Writing Program. She is the Photographer Manager. She enjoys hiking up at Pinecrest, playing volleyball, and wizard dueling with her friends Annie, Maddie, Rose and Vannida.
Special Projects/Activities Coordinator
Rose Thomson has just graduated from Escalon High School and this is her first year as a Student Coach for the Great Valley Writing Program. She leads a team of two junior coaches in the supervision of a group of students who stay after the program while their parents are in meetings. They organized playground games and contests for the children. She also handles requests from the teachers for all the grade levels, these requests go from copies to assistance within the classroom. She enjoys swimming, hiking, reading, exploring the Pottermore website, and wizard dueling with her friends Joanna, Annie, and Maddie.
Junior Coach
Emmitt Grayson is going to be a freshmen at Ripon High School. This is his first year helping with the Great Valley Writing Program. He loves the writing and technology workshop and is the Computer Activities Supervisor for the k-5th grade kids of the after school program. He loves football and writing. He is going to be coaching for as long as he can. Emmitt also enjoys wizard dueling with his friends Annie, Maddie, Joanna, Vannida, and Rose.
Junior Coach
Carissa Seth is going into the eighth grade, and finishing her first year attending the Writing and Technology Workshop. She loves to read and especially loves writing. Miss Carissa found out about this program through her mom, an assistant coordinator who is working with the middle school and high school students this year. Before the Workshop, she attended the GVWP Young Writers Camp at CSU Stanislaus for two summers. Some people might think that being a junior coach is just about handling kids- which part of it is - but it has actually it has become a learning experience for her. Carissa has learned leadership and people skills, along with how to manage a group of kids while still being liked and respected.
